Atlanta, Georgia (September 28, 2005) – It's happening again. The Outinord Universal tunnelforming system is doing its part to keep a major construction project on schedule and within budget. Indeed, pace of construction at The Manhattan, a high-rise amenity-filled residential condominium home project in metro Atlanta, is right on target. Developers, contractors, and end users, alike welcome that sort of reliability, as projects completed on time translate into savings for all.

Potential cost-savings alone, however, did not drive The Manhattan's developers, Southeast Capital Partners, to specify the Outinord tunnelforming system. Using the tunnelform system, Stull has discovered that it is easy to establish a daily construction cycle for any project, and that his employees have ample opportunity to develop expertise for their specific task. Outinord's tunnelform method is so efficient it often allows contractors to shave weeks, even months, from a typical project schedule. This is true of The Manhattan project where Total Concrete Structures has been able to cycle/pour every day almost from day one. With conventional methods, a 28-story tower would be poured at a rate of one floor per week. Using Outinord, Total Concrete is pouring almost two floors per week or seven floors per month at The Manhattan. The company is looking at a mid-January completion date – two weeks ahead of schedule – for completion of the 27-story shell.

Worker safety is as equally important to the contractor as the cost-savings and the end product. At no time on The Manhattan job site are workers exposed to an unprotected leading edge. As seen in the photo, there is permanent perimeter protection with complete guardrail protection at the top of the form, and guardrail and netting protection at the base of the form.

The Manhattan is one element in Atlanta's Perimeter Place, a 1 million-square-foot mixed-use development that will offer residents and retailers an exquisitely yet practically designed community in which to live, shop and work.
